On Saturday, April 30, Kenya hosted a massive elephant ivory and rhino horn burn, destroying well over 100 tons of ivory alone. Tim Tear, the Executive Director of WCS's Africa Program, witnessed the event firsthand.

"Ivory burns such as this one do help highlight the plight of elephants," he later reflected, "and so, when the crowds disperse and the fires burn out, I know these tusks are not being turned to ash without benefit and without honor. Especially, if we all do our part to help."
