Regional NbS Advisor for the WCS East Africa, Madagascar, and Western Indian Ocean Program

Olly Griffin is Regional NbS Advisor for the WCS East Africa, Madagascar, and Western Indian Ocean Program, where he supports identifying, developing, and expanding NbS programs across the region. Olly has previous practical and technical experience implementing conservation projects in Madagascar, central Africa, and south-east Asia, including seven years based at WCS’s flagship REDD+ project, the Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary REDD+ project in eastern Cambodia. During this time, he led the project’s high-quality, long-term biodiversity monitoring program, as well as leading the project’s fourth verification under VCS and CCB standards, generating 4.3 million VCUs. Other responsibilities included: supporting development of the new NPL REDD+ project; supporting landscape teams in the design of project interventions to ensure alignment with the projects’ theories of change; engaging in the national REDD+ policy process; developing the necessary project documentation to ensure project registration, validation and verification according to the requirements of the VCS and CCB Standards; monitoring and reporting on project progress; and liaising with outside marketing partners for the sale of project credits. He holds an MSc in Conservation Science from Imperial College London.
