Anabel Carter

Research Assistant, Ocean Giants

Anabel is a Research Assistant with the Ocean Giants Program at WCS. She works on analyzing archived acoustic recordings from the WCS, WHOI and Equinor PAM program in the Equinor Wind Lease 0512 area and assessing habitat use and behavior of cetaceans in the NYB. Anabel's main research interest involves using stable isotopes to study the behavioral ecology of cetaceans. Anabel completed her M.A. in Ecology, Evolution, and Conservation Biology at Columbia University in the City of New York, investigating the foraging behavior and population structure of humpback whales in the New York Bight. She has previously authored a peer-reviewed journal article on the use of low cost equipment for estimating heat stress and has presented a variety of research projects at conferences across the country.
