François Sandrin

Natural Resources Management Technical Advisor

François Sandrin is a natural resources management specialist with over ten years of professional experience in community-based natural resource management. He has worked extensively in Central Africa and the Amazon region, contributing to projects that integrate sustainable wildlife management, biodiversity conservation, and socio-economic research. His work places a strong emphasis on developing livelihoods that reconcile environmental conservation with the rights, knowledge, and well-being of Indigenous Peoples and local communities.

François has been involved in multidisciplinary initiatives addressing human–wildlife interactions, governance of natural resources, and inclusive conservation strategies. Since 2019, he has been primarily engaged with the Sustainable Wildlife Management Programme (SWM Programme), where he represents WCS at the technical level and contributes to the programme’s strategic orientation, while supporting field teams in Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Madagascar and strengthening locally grounded, evidence-based approaches to wildlife management.
