Colin Sheldon

Director, Federal Affairs

Colin Sheldon is the Director of Federal Affairs for the Wildlife Conservation Society, working in its Washington, D.C. Office. A member of the Federal Affairs team since 2013, he lobbies Members of Congress, their staff, and Administration officials, and collaborates in coalitions with the broader environmental and conservation community. Colin’s work focuses on Department of the Interior Appropriations, legislation, and programs that support zoos and aquariums, as well as vulnerable species and their habitat around the world.

Before joining WCS, Colin spent two decades working on Capitol Hill in the office of Congressman Norm Dicks, who served on the House Appropriations Committee as Ranking Member of the Full Committee and Chairman of the Subcommittees for Defense and the Subcommittee on the Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies. In addition to appropriations, Colin led the Congressman’s work on the House Homeland Security Committee and advised him on budget and tax policy, foreign affairs, and education. Colin received his Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina.
