Sushil Raj
Executive Director, Rights & Communities
Sushil Raj joined WCS as the Executive Director of the Rights and Communities Global Program in 2021 where he proudly leads a committed, collaborative, and talented team. Prior to WCS, Sushil worked for over two decades at the Ford Foundation, United Nations, and other organizations on Indigenous Peoples, minority rights, and conflict prevention issues. Sushil was also appointed by the President of the UN Human Rights Council on a UN Special Procedures mandate to focus anti-racism initiatives concerning people of African Descent. He is a trained mediator and also serves on the Board of the New York Peace Institute.
Sushil holds a Masters in Managing Public Service Organizations from New York University Wagner, a Masters in International Political Economy and Development from Fordham University, a Graduate Diploma in Public International Law and Diplomacy from the Indian Academy of International Law, and a Bachelors in Philosophy from St. Stephen’s College in India.
