November 5 will be National Bison Day thanks to a resolution that passed the U.S. Senate yesterday.

It's a particularly good year to celebrate bison. In May, President Obama signed the National Bison Legacy Act, officially making the North American bison the National Mammal of the United States. The signing of that legislation was a milestone for an animal that once faced extinction.
