Meet the Maues marmoset, native to Brazil, where it is found only on the west bank of the Maues Acu River, in the Amazonas state. The region is among the most biodiverse in the world, and is home to more species of primates than anywhere on earth. Unfortunately, it also has one of the highest deforestation rates in the Amazon.

The Conservation Leadership Programme (CLP), of which WCS is a partner, recently announced the 2017 projects that will benefit from its support. Among them is a study of southern Amazonian marmoset species, allowing researchers to continue their work on behalf of these endangered miniature monkeys.
