Drifting through an Orange Sea

Southern elephant seals are mavens at sea, able to dive down to depths approaching 5,000 feet and stay under water for 20–30 minutes.

The southern elephant seal is one of the key species being studied in WCS’s Sea and Sky project. Sea and Sky helps protect the Patagonian Sea and its coastal areas, which make up one of the largest and richest marine ecosystems in the world.
