Southern Wallkill Biodiversity Plan

In 1997, MCA began the Southern Wallkill Biodiversity Plan (SWBP) project as a partnership between several municipalities adjacent to the Wallkill River in in Orange County, New York. These include the towns of Chester, Goshen, Warwick and the Village of Warwick. The results of our field studies and our unique Focal Species Analysis indicated areas rich in biodiversity. These results are summarized in the SWBP report, which may be ordered on our Publications page. The SWBP report contains a map of the important biodiversity areas in the four municipalities (see dark green areas in map above) as well as recommendations for both land preservation and biodiversity-friendly land use planning.
