Eastern Westchester Biotic Corridor

Started in 1998, the Eastern Westchester Biotic Corridor (EWBC) partnership between MCA and the towns of Lewisboro, South Salem and Pound Ridge in Westchester County, New York, is the oldest and most advanced of our projects. MCA published the EWBC report, which contains the results of our biodiversity field studies and recommendations to conserve that biodiversity, in 2002. All three EWBC towns have entered into an Intermunicipal Agreement in order to facilitate implementation of the recommendations in the report. One of those recommendations, on which the partnership is currently working, is to create a conservation overlay district which would provide an additional layer of review and incentives over existing zoning. To download a .pdf of the EWBC report, go to our Publications page.
