WCS Marine in Latin America and the Caribbean

Belize:Marine Program
In October 2002, WCS broadened its presence in Belize with the creation of the Belize Marine Program, which works in close collaboration with Glover’s Reef Marine Research Station.

In 1997, WCS opened Glover’s Reef Marine Research Station (GRMRS) on Middle Cay, one of six sand cays within the Glover’s Reef Marine Reserve.

 

Belize : Mesoamerican Barrier Reef Initiatives
The Mesoamerican Barrier Reef region, located off the coast of Belize in the Caribbean Sea, is home to many ecologically and economically important marine species.  

 

Nicaragua:Sea Turtle Conservation
Critical nesting and feeding habitat for endangered sea turtles occurs in the offshore waters and on the cays and mainland of Caribbean Nicaragua.
