Queens Zoo Volunteers

Become a Volunteer at the Queens Zoo
You're invited to become involved in an exciting educational adventure – The Wildlife Conservation Society volunteer program at the Queens Zoo. The Queens Zoo with wildlife from the American continents, and a working farm is located in Flushing Meadows Corona Park. The Education Department will provide conservation education to a wide range of people from New York City and Long Island.

As a Volunteer, you'll:

  • Teach school children and other zoo visitors about animals.
  • Give guided tours to groups in the zoo.
  • Assist instructors in the presentation of special programs.
  • Get involved in a variety of special events and zoo activities.
  • Have fun!!

Requirements:

  • Age: 18 and older
  • Training: multi-week program given by zoo staff
  • Volunteer a minimum of 4 hours every other week-(more if desired!!)
  • Reliability

Areas of participation:

  • Tour guide
  • Public speaker for narrated feedings
  • Lead discussions with visitors at exhibit sites
  • Lead arts and crafts activities for visitors
