WCS International Programs Internships

WCS’s International Conservation Program has five regional programs (Africa, Asia, Latin America, Marine, and North America) as well as a series of thematic programs (such as Living Landscapes, Science Resource Center, Global Carnivore, Wildlife Hunting and Trade, and Landscape Ecology and Geographic Analysis).  See www.wcs.org for further program descriptions. 

Half-time and full-time internships in the Central office located at the Bronx Zoo are available to outstanding third or fourth year undergraduate or graduate students.  The content of each internship will vary depending on the projects under way within the program of interest. 

Africa Program Intern
Duties include organizing administrative systems (print and electronic files and database management), coordinating and preparing promotional material concerning WCS field projects in Africa for both print and web based media. The intern will assist in basic office operations, logistics and liasing with field staff as well as other WCS departments. Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Photoshop, and database applications as well as strong writing skills are recommended. Opportunities for participation with specific projects of interest will be developed.

Latin America and Caribbean Intern
This internship consists of two major projects: (1) organize the program library (soft and hard copy) and update the databases.   Duties include creating a filing system for our library, archiving, scanning pictures, labeling and updating information. The intern will assist in basic office operations and special projects if necessary. The successful candidate must be able to read write and comprehend Spanish. Strong computer skills with preferred knowledge in Access, Excel and Photoshop and familiarity with Outlook are necessary.
