Members at the IUCN World Conservation Congress are calling for the closure of domestic ivory markets around the world.

"The movement behind Africa's elephants gives us all hope and will ensure that the elephant will continue to be a vital part of Africa's magnificent natural heritage," said WCS President and CEO Cristian Samper in a statement.

To get there, there's more work to be done, including at the CITES Conference of the Parties in a few weeks. Help us urge a similar action at that important meeting.
