The Wildlife Conservation Society's Adirondack Communities and Conservation Program is facilitating the development and implementation of a Local Waterfront Revitalization Strategy in the Towns of Clifton and Fine.  This project is the result of grants that WCS helped Clifton to receive from the Deparment of State Division of Coastal Resources in New York State, through the Local Waterfront Revitalization Program.  The first grant was a planning grant, meant to fund the community's development of a vision and revitalization strategy for the community's waterfront assets.  The second grant was awarded in 2007.  It is for conducting feasibility analysis on improving waterfront access at particular locations in Clifton and Fine.

The project team working on this effort from the Wildlife Conservation Society are Zoe Smith, Ray Curran, and Leslie Karasin.  They are working closely with a steering committee, including the town supervisors of Clifton and Fine, and with a volunteer waterfront advisory committee.

The Waterfront Advisory Committee are the community's leaders on this project.  If you have any ideas about the project, or are interested in serving on the committee, please contact a member of the committee or a member of the project team.  The waterfront advisory committee members include:

Paul Alioto
Hal Brown
Sherman Craig
Brian Donovan
Clint Farnsworth
Richard Laurin
Mike Looney
Hank Moshano
Jamie Savage
Susan Sweeney Smith
Terri Smith
Max Watson
Dave Ziemba

Public Meetings

There were three public meetings held in the summer and fall of 2006.  At these meetings, the project team and advisory committee collected input and ideas for the strategy.  There was an additional public meeting to unveil the strategy in spring 2007.

There will be future public meetings as plans for waterfront access sites are developed, to introduce these plans and hear public comments on them.  Please contact a member of the Waterfront Advisory Committee if you would like to know about upcoming meetings.
