Working for Wildlife: The Bronx Zoo Guide to Wildlife Careers

What would it be like to work at the Bronx Zoo? Who decides what to feed a grizzly bear and how much they need to eat? Who designs the "toys" that keep Bronx Zoo animals active and healthy? Who figured out what a lip-flip and an eyebrow-raise mean to a Gelada baboon? If your 8- to 12-year-old has a love for and fascination with animals, or an interest in someday working with wildlife, this one-of-a-kind program will open up a world of possibilities. We’ll introduce children to a variety of charismatic careers that are involved with maintaining and caring for the more than 4,000 animals who call the Bronx Zoo home. From animal behaviorists to zookeepers, conservation biologists to zoo veterinarians, children will be immersed in a behind-the-scenes look at who it takes to run a successful zoo. A pizza party lunch is included!
